Official: Brendan Rodgers Resigns as Celtic Manager, Immediate Departure Confirmed

Celtic Football Club has officially confirmed that manager Brendan Rodgers has tendered his resignation and will leave his position immediately. The club has accepted his departure.
Celtic released a statement thanking Rodgers for his service across his two highly successful spells at the club. "Brendan leaves Celtic with our gratitude for the part he played in a period of sustained success for the Club, and we wish him every success in the future," the statement read.
Rodgers' resignation follows a disappointing start to the season. The club currently sits with only 17 points after nine Scottish Premiership matches, trailing league leaders Hearts by eight points, and crucially failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage.
The procedure to appoint a new permanent head coach is already underway. In the interim, Celtic is pleased to announce that former manager Martin O’Neill and former player Shaun Maloney have agreed to take charge of the first-team affairs during the transition period. Further details regarding the interim appointment are expected to be announced soon
