AC Milan Revives Interest in Jonathan Burkardt Amid Gimenez’s Goal Drought

AC Milan is reportedly reconsidering a move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Jonathan Burkardt as concerns grow over Santiago Gimenez’s lack of goals. The Mexican forward, who joined from Feyenoord in January 2025 for around €32 million, was expected to be Milan’s long-term solution up front. However, his recent struggles in front of goal have raised doubts within the club’s management.
According to reports from Italy, Milan’s sporting director Igli Tare and the board are evaluating their options for the upcoming January transfer window. If Gimenez’s goal drought continues, the club is prepared to bring in a new striker to boost their attacking power for the second half of the season.
Jonathan Burkardt has emerged once again as a strong candidate. The 25-year-old German forward has been in excellent form for Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring six goals in his first seven appearances after a stellar previous season with Mainz, where he netted 18 times in 29 matches. His consistency and sharp finishing have made him one of the most efficient forwards in the Bundesliga.
Interestingly, Milan had already shown interest in Burkardt during the previous winter transfer window when he was still with Mainz. Now, with his performances continuing to impress in Germany, the Rossoneri see him as a potential reinforcement who could solve their ongoing scoring problems and provide a reliable alternative to Gimenez.
