Arteta Confirms Gyökeres Out for Slavia Prague Clash, Calls for Premier League Schedule Adjustment
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed in his pre-match press conference that star forward Viktor Gyökeres will miss the Champions League match against Slavia Prague due to injury, and expressed concern about the severity of the issue.

"He is definitely out. He did not train today. We need to do more checks and scans in the next few days to understand the seriousness, but he will certainly not be available for tomorrow's game," Arteta stated. He admitted to being worried because Gyökeres rarely suffers muscle problems, and having to leave the pitch was "not a good sign."

Looking ahead to the difficult European fixture, Arteta acknowledged the challenge: "Slavia Prague is unbeaten at home this season. They are a very cohesive team with clear tactical ideas, and they create a very intense atmosphere, so we know it will be a very difficult game."

The manager also voiced strong frustration regarding the scheduling of their League Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace, which is set just two days before a Premier League fixture. "Hopefully they will adjust our Premier League game date because playing a league match two days later clearly makes no sense," he argued, prioritizing player welfare and fairness across clubs.

Regarding the team's excellent defensive record, Arteta praised the collective effort: "Our defense is very good at the moment... The energy, intelligence, and aggression that the players show when defending are the key to our success. It is the result of collective teamwork." He concluded by noting that with seven players currently sidelined, the club’s squad depth is being severely tested.
