Atlético Madrid secured a 3-1 victory over Union Saint-Gilloise in Matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League league phase, consolidating their position with a strong home performance.
Atlético took the lead in the 39th minute when Giuliano Simeone provided the assist for Julián Álvarez to open the scoring. The lead was extended in the second half (72nd minute) by Conor Gallagher, who combined effectively with a teammate before finding the back of the net.
Union SG managed to pull a goal back late in the game (80th minute) when Soufiane Boufal set up Sykes for a tap-in, narrowing the deficit.
