Chivu Accepts Win and 12-Point Target: 'Inter Accept This Result, But I Take Responsibility'

Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu addressed the press after his side's narrow 2-1 victory over Kairat Almaty in the Champions League, admitting his team could have performed better but ultimately accepting the result.
"We could have done better, but I accept the three points. We have reached 12 points so far in the Champions League, which was the goal we set before the last international break in November," Chivu stated, confirming the team met their pre-set objective.
Despite the win, the coach took the blame for the performance: "I meant stimulating motivation; that was my thinking at the time. Maybe it was fatigue from the third game in six days; as a coach, I take responsibility for that."
Chivu expressed concern about the team's overall panic during the match. "The whole team was too frantic. We didn't follow the plan; I saw us being too hurried, which led to us losing some balls," he explained. He concluded by accepting the 2-1 scoreline, noting that the risk of losing often makes players try harder.
When asked about young forward Pio Esposito, Chivu reminded reporters: "He was born in 2005, don't forget that. He's at a good level, and his teammates help him. He will eventually handle things more calmly, but having him is important for us because he can do many things."
