A Growing List: Coaches Dismissed Early in the 2025-26 Season Across Europe’s Top Leagues

The role of a football manager remains one of the most unstable positions in modern sports, and the 2025-26 season has highlighted this once again. Pressure to deliver instant results continues to shorten managerial tenures, with several clubs in Europe’s top leagues opting for mid-season changes in a bid to shift momentum. Coaching changes have become a near-weekly storyline, reflecting how quickly patience can fade when results fall below expectations.
In the Premier League, managerial turnover has already made headlines. Nottingham Forest dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo early in the season, followed shortly by a brief and unsuccessful stint under Ange Postecoglou before Sean Dyche was appointed. Graham Potter also departed West Ham, while Wolves parted ways with Vitor Pereira as they struggled near the bottom of the table. These swift decisions underline how competitive and unforgiving the league has become.
La Liga and Serie A have experienced similar developments. Real Oviedo removed Veljko Paunovic after a poor start, while in Italy, Juventus moved on from Igor Tudor after a winless stretch and turned to Luciano Spalletti for stability. Genoa decided to move forward without Patrick Vieira, and Fiorentina dismissed Stefano Pioli after failing to secure early results. Atalanta also saw a managerial change, reflecting growing pressures in Italian football to act quickly when form dips.
Elsewhere, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 clubs have also made significant adjustments. Bayer Leverkusen parted with Erik ten Hag after a brief and turbulent period, followed by Borussia Monchengladbach moving on from Gerardo Seoane after a prolonged run without wins. In France, Monaco replaced Adi Hutter despite being close to the league leaders, demonstrating that even strong league positioning may not guarantee job security. With the season still ongoing, the list of managerial departures may continue to grow as clubs search for stability and improved performance.
