Dortmund's 'Beer Engine': Fans Consume Over 60,000 Litres of Beer Per Match at Signal Iduna Park

Details revealed in a recent documentary by Sky Germany have shed light on the massive logistics required to manage match days at Borussia Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park, including the astounding rate of fan beer consumption.
The stadium, which accommodates 81,365 spectators and is almost always sold out, requires over 1,000 catering staff to ensure operations run smoothly. The focus is not only on security but also on keeping fans fed and hydrated, with a half-litre of beer currently priced at $€4.90$ and a bratwurst at $€3.50$.
However, the most staggering figure was disclosed by the heads of catering and logistics, who revealed the match-day consumption statistics. Fans at Signal Iduna Park drink between 60,000 and 62,500 litres of beer per game.
This figure is particularly astonishing given that many attendees abstain from alcohol due to driving, age restrictions, or personal choice. The consumption rate highlights the intense atmosphere and scale of operations at one of Europe's largest stadiums
