PSSI Sets Sights on Heimir Hallgrimsson as Potential New Indonesia Coach

The search for Indonesia’s next national team coach continues to draw attention, with Icelandic manager Heimir Hallgrimsson emerging as a strong contender. Reports suggest that PSSI is eyeing Hallgrimsson to replace Patrick Kluivert, following an initial wave of speculation surrounding Timur Kapadze. The news surfaced through Irish media outlets indicating that Indonesia is evaluating Hallgrimsson as a possible appointment amid uncertainty about his future with Ireland.

Hallgrimsson’s tenure with the Republic of Ireland began in mid-2024, where he managed 14 matches, securing five wins, three draws, and six defeats. His contract runs until March 2026, but his position reportedly came under review after a challenging World Cup qualifying campaign. Under his leadership, Ireland scored 12 goals and conceded 20, results that have sparked discussions within both the Irish FA and external observers about his next move.

Prior to his current role, Hallgrimsson built an impressive international coaching résumé. He guided Jamaica in 27 matches and famously co-led Iceland to their historic Euro 2016 campaign, where the team’s performance earned global recognition.
