Conor Gallagher Considers January Loan Move to Manchester United
Conor Gallagher, midfielder for Atletico Madrid, is reportedly open to joining Manchester United on a loan deal in January after struggling for regular playing time in Spain. The English international is among several midfield targets for United, who are also monitoring Brighton’s Carlos Baleba to strengthen their squad.
United’s interest in Gallagher gained momentum because the 25-year-old is willing to leave Atletico mid-season. The Red Devils had pursued him during the summer transfer window but were unable to secure a deal, making the January window a potential opportunity to bolster their midfield.
Gallagher’s limited appearances at Atletico have caused growing frustration, prompting him to consider a move that could improve his chances of representing England at the 2026 World Cup. So far this season, he has only started four matches in all competitions, scoring once in the Champions League, and featured minimally in La Liga games.
Despite being under contract with Atletico until June 2029, Gallagher has not been part of England’s recent squads, with his last competitive appearance occurring in November last year. A loan move to Manchester United could provide the playing time he needs to regain his place in the national team setup.
