UEFA Fines Atlético Madrid 40,000 Euros for Racism and Missile Throwing Against Arsenal

UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has announced sanctions against Atlético Madrid due to racist/discriminatory behavior and the throwing of objects by their fans during a match against Arsenal.
For the racist and/or discriminatory behavior, UEFA has fined Atlético Madrid 30,000 Euros and imposed a ban on selling tickets to their away supporters for the next UEFA competition match. This away ticket ban is suspended for one year, effective from the date of the decision.
Additionally, the club was fined an extra 10,000 Euros for fans throwing objects during the fixture, bringing the total fine to 40,000 Euros. This is not the first time Atlético has faced punishment; last year, they were fined 30,000 Euros by UEFA for the improper conduct of some fans during a match against Benfica, which also included a one-year suspended ban on selling away tickets.
Atlético Madrid has also faced significant domestic disciplinary action, including the partial closure of the stadium's south stand for three home matches following disturbances during a match against Real Madrid. Facing mounting penalties, the club decided in October 2024 to stop selling away section tickets for five consecutive home matches to season ticket holders in the south stand, the area typically occupied by the club's staunch supporters.
