Too Tough to Win: Simeone Extends Record Winless Streak at Camp Nou to 17 Matches

Atlético Madrid suffered a 1-3 away defeat to Barcelona in a crucial La Liga match, ending their recent winning streak. Following the loss, coach Diego Simeone cemented a frustrating personal record.

According to Marca, Simeone has now managed Atlético at Camp Nou in 17 matches across all competitions without a single victory, recording 7 draws and 10 losses. This makes him the visiting coach with the longest consecutive winless streak at Camp Nou, surpassing Javier Aguirre (16 games).

In his post-match comments, Simeone focused on the performance rather than the result: "I am satisfied with the performance; we fought hard against a strong team." He conceded that while they could have defended better, Barcelona's quality created constant threats.

Simeone felt the 3-1 scoreline might not fully reflect the game, noting his team created more chances in the second half but lacked "decisiveness." He maintained a positive outlook, stating he was still full of positive energy for the upcoming matches.
