Henry Criticizes Salah’s Public Spat: Focus Should Be on the Team, Not Personal Grievances

Football legend Thierry Henry openly criticized Mohamed Salah’s decision to air his frustrations with manager Arne Slot publicly, arguing that the focus should be on the team's struggles rather than the player's personal situation.
Henry stated that the public discussion has shifted away from Salah’s great achievements toward his mismanaged response. He stressed that personal issues, especially during a difficult period for the club, must be resolved privately, ideally in the locker room or the coach's office.
Henry recalled his own experience at Barcelona, where he was once left out of the squad for a game against Villarreal despite having won the treble the previous year. He posed a rhetorical question, asking if he complained publicly. He stressed that when a player's performance drops, they naturally become vulnerable to being replaced, irrespective of their past glories. Henry affirmed that the team always comes first and that he always protected the group "at all costs."
While Henry admitted he privately discussed his status with Pep Guardiola, he never made the conversation public. He acknowledged Salah’s right to feel frustrated but strongly disagreed with the timing and manner of the public expression, emphasizing that a player's performance dictates their status, especially at a club like Liverpool.
