BBC: Chicago Fire in Active Talks with Lewandowski, Player Open to MLS Move

In an exclusive report, the BBC confirms that MLS club Chicago Fire is engaged in active negotiations with Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski regarding a potential move. With Lewandowski's contract set to expire at the end of the current season, the Fire hopes to secure the 37-year-old forward next summer.
Sources indicate that Lewandowski is open to the transfer opportunity and that his salary demands are not expected to be a major obstacle. While the veteran forward has options including remaining at Barcelona or joining the Saudi Pro League, a move to MLS is considered highly likely.
The Fire—who reached the playoffs this season for the first time since 2017—have placed Lewandowski on their "Discovery List," giving them priority rights and a leading position should he choose to continue his career in the US. This tactic prevents other clubs, including a previously linked Inter Miami, from contacting him directly. The club's interest, a top priority for at least six months, is partly influenced by Chicago's large Polish-American community; Lewandowski's wife, Anna, even visited the city last month.
Since his 2022 move to Barcelona, Lewandowski has scored 109 goals in 164 appearances, winning two La Liga titles.
