Raphinha’s Exclusion from FIFA FIFPRO World XI Raises Eyebrows Despite Huge Goal Contributions

The unveiling of the 2025 FIFA FIFPRO World XI sparked debate, particularly over the omission of Raphinha. While Ousmane Dembélé’s inclusion as the FIFA Player of the Year was widely accepted, many observers feel the Barcelona winger's absence from the overall Best XI is difficult to justify.

Raphinha’s statistical output for the last season was immense, with the Brazilian contributing a massive 38 goals and 24 assists in 64 appearances across all competitions. Given such high goal involvement, the decision to leave him out of the final selection is seen by some as a notable oversight.

The exclusion of superstars Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland, who both lacked major club trophies this year, was generally understood. However, the feeling is that players like Raphinha or Mohamed Salah could have reasonably replaced others selected in the midfield/forward line, specifically Cole Palmer and Jude Bellingham. Raphinha's impressive numbers suggest his impact warranted a spot among the world's elite in the annual lineup.
