Rafael Struick Handed Two-Match Ban After Heated Incident in BRI Super League

Dewa United striker Rafael Struick has received a significant disciplinary sanction in the 2025-26 BRI Super League, delivering a setback for both player and club. The young Indonesian international was punished following an on-field incident that drew widespread attention.
The decision was made after the PSSI Disciplinary Committee reviewed his actions during a tense league match. Struick was found guilty of unsporting behavior toward an opposing player, prompting the federation to impose firm penalties.
The incident occurred in week 16 of the competition during a clash at Sumpah Pemuda Stadium. Emotions flared late in the match when a foul involving another Dewa United player led to a confrontation, with Struick reacting impulsively in the aftermath.
As a result, the 22-year-old forward has been suspended for two matches, ruling him out of several important fixtures. In addition to the ban, he was also fined financially, further underlining the seriousness of the offense in the eyes of the authorities.
Despite the punishment, Struick showed accountability after the match by reaching out to the opposing player to express regret. He acknowledged that his actions were driven by momentary emotion rather than personal animosity, aiming to close the incident on a respectful note as he prepares to return after serving his suspension.
