Record Fines Shake Up Super League: Persebaya Tops the List

The 2025/2026 Super League season has put Persebaya Surabaya in the spotlight for reasons off the pitch. Rather than their league performance, the club has drawn attention due to accumulated supporter fines, which have reached a staggering IDR 590 million this season. This makes Persebaya the team with the highest disciplinary costs among all league participants.

The largest individual fine occurred during the match against Persib Bandung on March 2, 2026, at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium. The disciplinary committee reported that numerous firecrackers and fireworks were ignited in the north stands, resulting in a fine of IDR 250 million and the temporary closure of that section for the next home game. This incident significantly contributed to the club’s top position in the league’s fines ranking.

Following Persebaya, other clubs have also faced substantial penalties this season. Persis Solo recorded total fines of IDR 540 million, Bali United IDR 425 million, Persib Bandung IDR 255 million, and PSM Makassar IDR 210 million. The cumulative amounts highlight ongoing challenges in enforcing fan conduct rules across the league.

For Persebaya, these fines come at a difficult moment as the team struggles to stabilize its performance in the second half of the season. The financial burden from disciplinary actions adds pressure on management while testing the patience of the club and its supporters alike.

In response, the club has launched the campaign "Ayo Bersama Kita Jaga Persebaya," aiming to educate fans about proper behavior and prevent further sanctions. The initiative emphasizes that repeated violations could lead to harsher penalties, making supporter cooperation critical to the team’s future success.
