Inter Milan Set Conditions for Hakan Calhanoglu Contract Extension Amid Wage Cut Demand
Inter Milan are reportedly planning to extend the contract of Hakan Calhanoglu, but only if the Turkish midfielder agrees to a significant reduction in his current salary. The club views the renewal as important for maintaining stability, even as financial considerations begin to shape their long-term squad planning.
At present, the 32-year-old is among the highest earners at the club, taking home around 6.5 million euros net per season. Although his existing contract runs until 2027, Inter are already assessing ways to manage wage costs more sustainably while retaining key experienced players.
One of the main reasons behind the proposed salary adjustment is Calhanoglu's recent injury record. The midfielder has missed a considerable number of matches this season due to recurring fitness issues, particularly muscle-related problems, which have limited his availability in crucial fixtures.
The player's response to the wage-cut condition remains uncertain, while interest from other clubs is beginning to emerge. Galatasaray are among those monitoring the situation closely and could step in if negotiations between the player and Inter fail to progress.
If no agreement is reached, Inter are reportedly prepared to consider selling him in the upcoming transfer window to avoid losing him for free later. The club has placed a valuation of around 15 million euros, reflecting their intention to balance financial prudence with squad restructuring.
