Manchester United Confirm Michael Carrick as Permanent Manager After Impressive Interim Spell
Manchester United officially announced that Michael Carrick will continue as the club's permanent head coach. The decision ends months of uncertainty surrounding the managerial position after the departure of former coach Ruben Amorim earlier this year.
Carrick had been serving as interim manager for the past six months and managed to guide Manchester United to a strong third-place finish in the Premier League standings. His calm leadership and positive results reportedly convinced the club's hierarchy that he was the right figure to lead the team into the future.
The club confirmed that the 44-year-old coach signed a contract running until 2028. Manchester United's management praised Carrick for maintaining the club's identity while also creating a positive atmosphere within the squad and training ground. His work during a difficult transition period was viewed as a major reason behind the team's return to the UEFA Champions League.
Sporting director Jason Wilcox reportedly believed the decision was straightforward because Carrick had already shown strong leadership qualities and earned the trust of both players and staff. The club also appreciated the winning mentality he helped rebuild during his interim period.
Now officially in charge, Carrick faces an important first challenge ahead of the summer transfer window. Together with Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox, he is expected to help shape Manchester United's recruitment plans as the club prepares for the upcoming season and aims to strengthen its squad for domestic and European competition.
