Kevin Diks Earns Place Among Bundesliga's Best Newcomers Alongside Luis Diaz
The 2025/2026 Bundesliga season officially came to an end after all clubs completed their 34 matches. Bayern Munich once again lifted the league trophy, while St. Pauli and Heidenheim were relegated from Germany's top division. Amid another intense campaign, Indonesian football received encouraging news through the impressive performances of national team defender Kevin Diks.
The Borussia Monchengladbach defender was included in the Bundesliga's list of top debut players for the season, sharing recognition with well-known names such as Luis Diaz, Jobe Bellingham, and Jarell Quansah. Kevin Diks adapted quickly after joining Gladbach from FC Copenhagen and immediately secured a regular spot in the starting lineup during his first year in German football.
His contribution throughout the season went beyond defensive duties. The Indonesian international made 30 league appearances and scored five goals, an impressive return for a central defender. He also became Gladbach's main penalty taker and maintained a perfect conversion rate from the spot, showing both composure and reliability in key moments.
Several of his goals came from penalties against clubs including FC Koln, Heidenheim, Augsburg, and Union Berlin. He also scored from open play against Hoffenheim, highlighting his ability to support attacking moves when needed. His consistency and confidence throughout the campaign helped establish him as one of the standout newcomers in the Bundesliga.
Other players on the debutant list also enjoyed strong seasons. Luis Diaz played a major role in Bayern Munich's title-winning campaign with outstanding goals and assists, while Jobe Bellingham became an important figure at Borussia Dortmund. Young talents such as Lennart Karl, Yan Diomande, and Said El Mala also impressed across the league. For Indonesia, Kevin Diks' recognition serves as an important sign that Indonesian players are increasingly capable of competing at the highest level of European football.
