Tottenham Close In on Andrew Robertson After Verbal Agreement Reached
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly on the verge of signing Andrew Robertson after reaching a verbal agreement with the experienced Liverpool defender. The move could become one of the most notable free transfers of the summer window.
Robertson had already attracted interest from Spurs earlier in the year, although a transfer did not materialize during the January window. The Scottish international later admitted he was open to the possibility of joining Tottenham while remaining fully committed to Liverpool throughout the season.
The 32-year-old eventually confirmed that he would leave Anfield after nine successful years filled with major trophies and memorable achievements. His reduced role following the arrival of Milos Kerkez played a significant part in his decision to seek a new challenge away from Liverpool.
Tottenham continued monitoring Robertson despite previous setbacks, and reports suggest Juventus also attempted to enter the race for his signature. However, the veteran left-back reportedly preferred a move to North London as Spurs intensified talks in recent weeks.
Strengthening the left side of defence has become a major priority for Tottenham because of inconsistent performances and recurring injuries in that position. Robertson's experience, leadership, and long Premier League track record are viewed as valuable additions for a squad looking to improve its defensive stability next season.
