Juventus Turn Back to David De Gea After Alisson Transfer Setback
Juventus are reportedly reconsidering a move for David De Gea after facing major difficulties in their pursuit of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. The Italian giants are eager to strengthen their squad following a disappointing 2025/2026 campaign.
The Bianconeri finished only sixth in the Serie A standings, forcing them to settle for Europa League football next season instead of a place in the Champions League. Missing out on Europe's top competition is expected to have a significant impact on the club's finances and transfer strategy this summer.
Despite those challenges, head coach Luciano Spalletti is still pushing for major changes to improve the team ahead of the new season. One of the key positions Juventus want to upgrade is goalkeeper, especially with Michele Di Gregorio reportedly expected to leave the club.
Juventus initially prioritized a move for Alisson, and reports suggested the Brazilian goalkeeper was open to joining the Turin side. However, Liverpool are believed to be unwilling to part ways with the experienced shot-stopper, whose contract still runs until 2027.
As a result, Juventus have shifted their attention back to David De Gea, who is currently under contract with Fiorentina. The Spanish veteran is considered an attractive option because of his experience, although Juventus would still need to pay a transfer fee estimated at around €3–4 million to complete the move.
