Official: Arsenal Defender Jurriën Timber Ruled Out of 2026 World Cup
Official announcement: Arsenal defender Jurriën Timber has withdrawn from the Netherlands World Cup squad due to injury. Sunderland defender Lutsharel Geertruida has been called up as his replacement.

Jurriën Timber will miss the 2026 World Cup.
The 24-year-old defender has not sufficiently recovered from a groin injury and cannot participate in the upcoming World Cup under medically safe conditions. Consequently, following consultations with the medical staff, it has been decided that Timber will leave the national team's pre-tournament training camp in New York after the match against Uzbekistan.
Ronald Koeman has called up Sunderland player Lutsharel Geertruida as Timber's replacement. With his inclusion, the squad training at the base camp in Kansas is back to 26 players.
