Al-Ahli Eyes Karim Adeyemi as Potential Successor to Riyad Mahrez

Karim Adeyemi's future at Borussia Dortmund appears increasingly uncertain, with the Bundesliga club reportedly open to selling the German forward during the 2026 summer transfer window. Dortmund are keen to avoid losing the player without a transfer fee when his contract expires in 2027.

The club is understood to be exploring offers after contract extension talks failed to provide long-term certainty. Selling Adeyemi this summer would allow Dortmund to maximize his market value instead of risking his departure as a free agent at the end of the 2026–27 season.

While several European clubs have been linked with the 24-year-old, Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli has emerged as a serious contender. The club is reportedly considering Adeyemi as a long-term replacement for Riyad Mahrez, whose own future remains unclear with his contract also set to expire in June 2027.

Any move for Adeyemi is expected to require a transfer fee of around €50 million. Given his age and potential, Dortmund believe the valuation accurately reflects his importance and room for further development.

Adeyemi strengthened his reputation with an impressive 2025–26 campaign, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. With growing interest from abroad and Dortmund weighing their options, his next destination is likely to become one of the major transfer stories of the summer.
