Manchester City Break British Transfer Record with Landmark Signing of Elliot Anderson

Manchester City have officially strengthened their midfield by securing the signing of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest following the departure of Bernardo Silva. The deal is reportedly worth £116 million, making Anderson the most expensive English player in football history.

The midfielder enjoyed an impressive spell at Nottingham Forest after leaving his boyhood club, Newcastle United, in 2024. During his two seasons at the City Ground, he played a key role in Forest's seventh-place Premier League finish and helped the club reach the UEFA Europa League semifinals the following campaign.

Although Forest struggled domestically and narrowly avoided relegation before finishing 16th in the league, Anderson remained one of the team's standout performers. He made 88 appearances for the club and consistently delivered strong displays despite the team's difficult season.

His club performances also earned him a prominent role in the England national team under Thomas Tuchel. Anderson started all four of England's matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further enhancing his reputation as one of the country's brightest midfield talents.

Manchester City moved quickly to complete the transfer as they reshaped their midfield ahead of the new season. Anderson has already undergone his medical examination while on international duty, with the remaining transfer formalities expected to be finalized once he returns to England.
