AC Milan Beat Como to Gonçalo Ramos in Record-Breaking Transfer Deal
AC Milan have emerged victorious in the race to sign Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos, despite strong interest from Como during the summer transfer window. While both clubs identified the 25-year-old as a priority target, Milan's greater financial resources ultimately proved decisive in completing the deal.
Como reportedly viewed Ramos as an ideal fit for head coach Cesc Fàbregas' tactical approach, which emphasizes possession-based football and patient build-up play. His ability to combine with teammates, create space, and contribute beyond traditional goal-scoring duties made him a perfect candidate for the club's long-term project.
However, the financial demands of the transfer created a significant obstacle for Como. With a reported transfer fee of €74 million along with substantial salary requirements, the total cost was considered too high for the club to pursue without risking financial regulations.
Milan, on the other hand, moved forward with confidence and finalized what has been described as one of the biggest signings in the club's history. Ramos has signed a contract running until 2031 and is expected to become a central figure in the Rossoneri's attack for years to come.
Although they missed out on Ramos, Como continued to strengthen their squad by completing the permanent signing of Nico Paz in a deal worth €60 million, with the payment structured over four years. The move reflects the club's ambition to keep building a competitive team while maintaining financial stability.
