Sampdoria Targets Lorenzo Insigne with One-Year Deal Amid Growing Interest from Abroad
Sampdoria is reportedly preparing an offer to sign veteran forward Lorenzo Insigne on a free transfer after the Italian international became a free agent at the end of June. The Serie B club sees the experienced attacker as a key addition to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.
The proposed agreement is expected to include a one-year contract with an option to extend for an additional season. By pursuing the former Napoli captain, Sampdoria aims to add leadership, creativity, and top-level experience as the club looks to compete for promotion back to Serie A.
Insigne recently completed a short loan spell with Pescara during the second half of the 2025/26 campaign. He produced an impressive return of five goals and three assists in 13 appearances, although his contributions were not enough to prevent the team from being relegated to Serie C.
After spending three years with Toronto FC in Major League Soccer, the 35-year-old is now considering the next stage of his career. Returning to Italian football remains a realistic possibility, but he is also attracting attention from clubs outside the country.
Sampdoria faces competition for Insigne's signature, with Greek side Iraklis FC and several clubs from Dubai and Qatar reportedly interested in signing him. While overseas teams may offer more attractive financial packages, Sampdoria hopes its sporting project and ambition to return to Serie A will persuade the experienced forward to join the club.
