Juventus Eyes Theo Hernandez Return to Serie A Despite Major Salary Challenge
Juventus FC is reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Theo Hernandez from Al Hilal SFC during the summer transfer window. The Italian club is continuing to strengthen its squad for head coach Luciano Spalletti, with Hernandez emerging as one of the high-profile names under consideration.
The proposed move is believed to have strong backing from Frederic Massara, who previously played a key role in bringing Hernandez to AC Milan in 2019. Their long-standing professional relationship could help facilitate negotiations if Juventus decides to pursue the transfer more aggressively.
From a transfer fee perspective, the deal is considered achievable, particularly if Juventus completes the sale of Andrea Cambiaso. Funds generated from a potential departure could provide the financial flexibility needed to secure Hernandez's transfer and strengthen the left side of the squad.
The biggest obstacle remains the defender's salary. Hernandez reportedly earns around €20 million per season in Saudi Arabia, a figure that far exceeds Juventus' wage structure. Any return to Serie A would likely depend on the French international agreeing to a significant reduction in his earnings.
Despite the financial hurdle, Juventus is said to remain interested in the experienced full-back because of his proven quality and ability to improve the team's defensive and attacking balance. Discussions could intensify later in the transfer window if both sides become more flexible, making Hernandez one of the most closely watched names in Juventus' summer plans.
