Turkish Giants Battle for Romelu Lukaku as Napoli Opens Exit Door

Romelu Lukaku could be set for a new challenge after SSC Napoli reportedly made him available for transfer this summer. The Italian side is willing to sell the experienced striker for around €10 million, attracting interest from Turkish rivals Fenerbahce S.K. and Besiktas J.K..

Napoli's decision is part of a broader squad rebuild under new head coach Massimiliano Allegri. The club is reshaping its attacking options and believes Lukaku's departure would create room for players who better fit the manager's tactical approach while also reducing the team's wage commitments.

The Belgian forward endured a disappointing campaign in Naples, making only seven appearances and scoring once. His performances fell well below the level he had shown in the previous season, when he contributed 14 goals in 38 matches, leading the club to reassess his role in the squad.

Napoli's €10 million asking price is also designed to maximize financial efficiency. By keeping the transfer fee below a higher threshold, the club can reportedly avoid triggering a sell-on payment owed to Chelsea F.C., allowing Napoli to retain the full proceeds from the sale.

Although the transfer fee is considered affordable, Lukaku's reported annual salary of around €8 million remains a significant obstacle. Even so, Turkish clubs have often demonstrated the financial capacity to accommodate high-profile wages, making Fenerbahce and Besiktas realistic contenders if negotiations advance during the summer transfer window.
