Fran Garcia Completes Permanent Move from Real Madrid to Real Betis
Real Madrid have officially confirmed the departure of left-back Fran Garcia, who has completed a permanent transfer to Real Betis during the summer transfer window. The 26-year-old has signed a four-year contract that will keep him at the Seville-based club until 2030.
Negotiations between the two clubs had been ongoing for some time before the deal was finalized. Once an agreement was reached, Garcia quickly completed his medical examination and officially became a Real Betis player.
The transfer is reported to be worth around €4 million, with Real Madrid also retaining a 50 percent economic interest in the defender. Considering Garcia had only one year remaining on his contract, the agreement is viewed as a sensible piece of business for the Spanish giants.
Garcia's departure comes after Real Madrid strengthened the left-back position with the arrival of Marc Cucurella while also keeping Alvaro Carreras in the squad. As a result, the defender was no longer expected to play a significant role under new manager Jose Mourinho.
The Spanish full-back leaves his boyhood club after making 110 first-team appearances across two spells, contributing three goals and 13 assists. During his time at Real Madrid, he helped the club win several major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Spanish Super Cup.
