Ole Romeny has officially completed a season-long loan move from Oxford United to Fortuna Sittard ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. The Indonesian international finalized the transfer after weeks of speculation, securing an opportunity to continue playing at a higher level despite remaining under contract with the English club until 2028.

The striker's departure comes after Oxford United were relegated to England’s third tier. Although he still has several years left on his contract, his long-term role at the club appeared uncertain, making a temporary move an attractive solution for both player and club.

At Fortuna Sittard, Romeny will reunite with fellow Indonesia international Justin Hubner, who has already established himself as an important member of the Dutch side. The Eredivisie club confirmed the signing as a loan deal but did not announce any option to make the transfer permanent after the season.

Reports from Dutch media later revealed that the agreement does not include a purchase clause. As a result, Romeny is expected to return to Oxford United when the loan expires, leaving his future beyond the 2026/27 season uncertain depending on the English club’s plans.

Despite earlier delays, the transfer was completed after Romeny secured the necessary work permit. Fortuna Sittard's technical director expressed satisfaction with finally bringing the striker to the club, believing his experience and attacking quality will strengthen the squad as they prepare for the new Eredivisie season.
