Mason Greenwood Chooses Fenerbahce as Roma Miss Out on Transfer Target
Mason Greenwood is set to become a Fenerbahce player after reaching an agreement with the Turkish club, ending Roma's hopes of securing one of their top transfer targets. The forward is expected to complete his medical before the move is officially confirmed.
Fenerbahce gained the advantage by opening negotiations early and successfully agreeing to personal terms with Greenwood. The reported salary package convinced the player to choose the Turkish club despite interest from several European sides.
Roma had prepared an offer close to Marseille's asking price, but Fenerbahce ultimately finalized the deal with the French club. Their swift approach allowed them to move ahead of both the Serie A side and Atletico Madrid in the race for the attacker.
The transfer agreement is also expected to benefit Manchester United, which retained a sell-on clause when Greenwood left the club. Reports differ on the exact distribution of the proceeds, with some suggesting that additional payments could also involve one of his former clubs.
The overall value of the transfer varies depending on the source, with estimates ranging from around €39.5 million to €45 million plus bonuses. Regardless of the final figure, all parties are believed to have reached a full agreement, clearing the way for Greenwood to begin a new chapter with Fenerbahce.
