Mohamed Salah Deal Pays Off Fast as Trabzonspor Recover 70% of His Salary Through Tickets

Trabzonspor have already recovered a significant portion of Mohamed Salah's first-year salary through season-ticket sales following the announcement of the Egyptian superstar's arrival. Club president Ertugrul Dogan revealed that nearly 70 percent of Salah's annual wages have been covered by ticket revenue within just a few days, highlighting the enormous commercial impact of one of the biggest transfers in Turkish football.

Salah is reportedly earning around €17 million per year, with an additional 20 percent share from merchandise sales featuring his name. Before his arrival, Trabzonspor had set a target of 25,000 season tickets, but the club now expects sales to surpass 30,000. Interest from major companies across Turkey, Europe and the Arab world has also increased, suggesting that the transfer could generate significant commercial opportunities beyond ticket revenue.

The scale of Salah's popularity was evident when around 35,000 supporters filled Papara Park for his contract presentation. The move was particularly unexpected given that the former Liverpool star had previously been linked with clubs in the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer after spending nine seasons at Anfield. Instead, he opted for a new challenge in Turkey, with Trabzonspor having pursued him since the 2026 World Cup.

Trabzonspor moved quickly once competition from other Turkish clubs began to fade. Negotiations developed through a series of discussions before the agreement was completed within roughly a week. The club also deliberately arranged Salah's medical in Istanbul rather than Trabzon, allowing him to experience the scale of his welcome across the country. Thousands of supporters turned up at the airport, while Salah later made his first appearance as a substitute in a 1-1 draw against Kasimpasa.

The signing also fits into Trabzonspor's broader strategy of building a sustainable squad while attracting promising young talent from around the world. The club has generated substantial profits from recent player sales and reinvested in prospects from several countries, while Salah represents the more established face of the project. Although Trabzonspor may not be among Turkey's most consistent title contenders, his arrival has transformed the club's global profile and created a commercial opportunity that extends far beyond the football pitch.
