RB Leipzig Strengthen Their Squad with Marc Guiu as Bitshiabu Heads for Loan Move
RB Leipzig are closing in on a permanent deal for Chelsea forward Marc Guiu, with the Bundesliga club reportedly reaching a full agreement with the English side. The transfer fee is expected to be below €20 million, while Chelsea are also set to receive a percentage of any future sale. The move would give Leipzig another young attacking option as they prepare for the new season under head coach Martín Demichelis.
Guiu is expected to provide valuable depth in attack, particularly with Rômulo currently sidelined by a knee injury. The Brazilian forward is set to miss Leipzig’s opening DFB-Pokal fixture against Eintracht Trier as well as their first Bundesliga match against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Tidiam Gomis has already been relied upon in the attacking role, but Guiu offers a more natural central-striker profile.
The return of Christopher Nkunku from injury gives Demichelis another versatile option in the final third. The French forward can operate as a central striker, false nine, attacking midfielder, or on either flank. However, Guiu is viewed as a more traditional number nine who can provide Leipzig with a dedicated focal point in attack.
Guiu began his career at Barcelona’s academy before joining Chelsea for around €6 million in 2024. He spent part of the previous campaign on loan at Sunderland, although the spell ended earlier than planned after only three appearances. During the 2025/26 season, the young striker made 16 competitive appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists. A move to Leipzig could offer him a clearer pathway to regular football and further development as a young Spain international.
Meanwhile, Leipzig are also working on a temporary solution for central defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu. The 21-year-old French defender is reportedly close to joining RC Lens on a season-long loan without a purchase option. Leipzig still see Bitshiabu as part of their long-term plans and believe regular playing time will be crucial for his development. The German club are also expected to cover part of his salary during the loan period, making the deal beneficial for both the player and Leipzig’s future squad planning.
