Indonesia Could Face Jordan in November FIFA Matchday Ahead of Asian Cup 2027
Indonesia could be set for a challenging FIFA Matchday fixture against Jordan in November 2026 as part of their preparations for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. Reports from Jordan suggest that the two national teams are being considered for a friendly, although the Indonesian Football Association has yet to confirm the proposed match.
Jordan is currently working on its international schedule ahead of the Asian Cup, with head coach Badou Zaki and the Jordan Football Association reportedly discussing friendly matches with several football federations. Indonesia has emerged as one of the potential opponents for the November window, alongside Australia, giving Jordan several options as it builds towards the tournament in Saudi Arabia.
Both Indonesia and Jordan have already secured their places at the 2027 Asian Cup. A meeting between the two sides would therefore provide valuable preparation, particularly because both teams are expected to face strong opposition at the continental tournament. Jordan's other reported plans include a September meeting with Syria, while talks are also underway for a possible fixture against Venezuela.
For Indonesia, a match against Jordan would offer John Herdman an opportunity to assess his squad against a team with considerable experience in Asian football. Facing another Asian Cup participant could also help Indonesia identify weaknesses, test different tactical approaches and prepare players for the intensity of the competition ahead.
However, the proposed Indonesia-Jordan fixture remains unconfirmed at this stage. The FIFA Matchday windows in September, October and November will be important for Herdman as he continues to shape the squad and build consistency. If the Jordan encounter eventually goes ahead, it could become one of Indonesia's most useful tests before the 2027 Asian Cup.
