Chelsea Ready €90 Million Move for Crystal Palace Star Adam Wharton

Chelsea are reportedly preparing a €90 million bid for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton as they look to strengthen their midfield during the January transfer window. The Blues are believed to view the 22-year-old as a potential solution to their lack of depth in the middle of the pitch, with the club ready to test Palace's resolve with a major offer.

Chelsea's interest comes after a difficult end to the summer transfer window. The London club agreed to let Enzo Fernandez join Manchester City but failed to bring in his replacement after a proposed deal for AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara unexpectedly collapsed. The failed transfer left Chelsea without the midfield reinforcement they had been planning for the new season.

The situation became more complicated following the breakdown of Folarin Balogun's proposed move to Everton, despite the striker having already completed his medical. With the chain of transfers falling apart, Chelsea were forced to close the summer window without securing a successor for Fernandez. Wharton has been on Chelsea's radar since the summer and has continued to attract attention with his performances for Crystal Palace.
