Sevilla Secure Bargain Loan Deal for Milan Midfielder Youssouf Fofana

Sevilla have revealed that they will cover only a small portion of Youssouf Fofana's salary during his loan spell from AC Milan. The La Liga club will reportedly pay just eight percent of the French midfielder's wages, making the agreement a relatively low-cost move for Sevilla as they strengthen their squad for the new season.

Fofana joined Sevilla on the final day of the summer transfer window after his proposed move to Lyon failed to materialize. The 27-year-old was no longer considered part of the plans at Milan and had even been separated from the first-team group during the latter stages of preseason. His arrival in Spain therefore provides an opportunity to regain regular playing time and rebuild his momentum.

The loan agreement does not reportedly include an option for Sevilla to make the transfer permanent. Fofana remains under contract with Milan until June 2028, meaning the Italian club still holds his long-term future. Sevilla's limited financial responsibility for his wages also makes the temporary arrangement less risky while giving the player a chance to prove his value in La Liga.

Fofana originally arrived at Milan from Monaco in 2024 in a deal worth around €26 million. Since joining the Rossoneri, he has made 88 appearances across competitions, contributing three goals and 13 assists. Although his spell in Italy has produced mixed results, his experience at the highest level could prove useful for Sevilla as he adapts to a new league and environment.

The move is part of a broader restructuring at Milan during the summer transfer window, with the club reportedly investing heavily in its squad. For Fofana, the priority will now be to establish himself at Sevilla after making his debut from the bench in a 1-1 draw against Espanyol. Regular appearances and strong performances could help revive his career in Spain while also giving Milan a chance to reassess his situation before his contract expires.
