Indonesia Still Has One November FIFA Matchday Slot Available
Indonesia’s national team already has one fixture secured for the November FIFA Matchday, with Jordan set to host the Garuda squad in Amman. However, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) still has one additional slot available during the final international window of the year, giving the team an opportunity to arrange another competitive friendly before the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
PSSI has been planning Indonesia’s international schedule well in advance. The September-October window will be occupied by the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, where John Herdman’s side will compete in Group A against Malaysia, Singapore, and Bangladesh. Indonesia could play up to four matches during the tournament, depending on their progress, before turning their attention to the November international break.
The November window will run from November 9 to 17, with each national team permitted to play a maximum of two matches. Jordan has already confirmed that Indonesia will visit Amman International Stadium on November 13. Since the trip will take Indonesia to the Middle East, PSSI could consider arranging the second friendly against another nearby opponent, allowing the squad to gain valuable experience in similar conditions.
These two matches are expected to serve as Indonesia’s final preparations for the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia. The tournament will take place from January 7 to February 5, 2027, with Indonesia drawn in Group F alongside Japan, Qatar, and Thailand. The challenging group will provide a major test for Herdman’s developing squad and highlight the level Indonesia must reach to compete consistently against Asia’s stronger nations.
For Indonesia, the November window therefore carries significant importance beyond simply adding two friendly matches. Playing away from home and facing high-level opponents could help the squad adapt to different environments while closing the competitive gap with teams such as Japan and Qatar. With the 2030 World Cup among Indonesia’s longer-term ambitions, the remaining November fixture represents an important opportunity to build experience, confidence, and tactical readiness ahead of the Asian Cup.
