Indonesia’s FIFA Ranking Climbs Higher as Garuda Targets Top 100 Breakthrough

The Indonesian national football team continues to show strong progress in its pursuit of a place among the world’s elite. Recent back-to-back victories over Oman and Mozambique in the Garuda Championship Series 2026, held at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, have reinforced the growing momentum of the squad.
Those two convincing wins had a direct impact on Indonesia’s standing in the FIFA rankings. The team successfully climbed to 118th place, overtaking four other nations and signaling steady improvement on the international stage.
With an additional 12.25 ranking points earned, Indonesia’s total now stands at 1,157.14 points. The gap to Sudan, which sits just above them, has narrowed to a very small margin of only 0.08 points, keeping the competition for higher placement extremely tight.
The leadership of the Indonesian Football Association expressed appreciation for the team’s progress and the continued support from fans. At the same time, there is a clear reminder that rankings alone do not guarantee success on the pitch, so maintaining focus and consistency remains essential as the team pushes forward.
Looking ahead, the squad has little time to rest as preparations begin for the ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026 scheduled for late July. This regional tournament will serve as an important test before Indonesia returns to official FIFA international fixtures in September, where further improvements in ranking and performance will be targeted.
