Gunners Dominate Leverkusen in Pre-Season Showdown

Arsenal showcased their pre-season prowess with a commanding 4-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen at the Emirates Stadium. The match, attended by 50,000 fans, saw the Gunners demonstrate their readiness for the upcoming season through an impressive display.

The game kicked off with Arsenal seizing early control. Oleksandr Zinchenko opened the scoring in the 8th minute, followed swiftly by a goal from Leandro Trossard just a minute later. Gabriel Jesus, who was in scintillating form, added to the tally with a brilliant solo effort in the 38th minute, highlighting his return to form after an injury-hit previous season.

In the second half, Kai Havertz, who moved to the forward position after Jesus's substitution, capitalized on a deflection from Granit Xhaka to score Arsenal's fourth goal. Xhaka, a former Arsenal player, received a warm reception from the home crowd on his return to North London with Leverkusen.
Despite a consolation goal from Adam Hlozek for the visitors in the 76th minute, Arsenal's dominance was never truly challenged. The match also provided a platform for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to give playing time to young talents like Ethan Nwaneri and Miles Lewis-Skelly, who impressed with their performances.
Notably absent were new signing Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber, with Arteta opting for caution due to fitness concerns. Declan Rice also made his first pre-season appearance, further strengthening the squad.
The emphatic win sets a positive tone for Arsenal, who will next face Lyon in their final pre-season fixture before starting their Premier League campaign against Wolves on August 17. With their sharp form and tactical depth, the Gunners look poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
