Manchester City forward Shaw, aged 27, claimed the PFA women's player of the year after an impressive season as the top scorer in the Women's Super League (WSL) with 21 goals in 18 matches. Despite an injury cutting her season short, Shaw's contributions helped Manchester City finish second in the league.

Shaw expressed her gratitude for the award, acknowledging the support of her teammates and coaching staff. She also congratulated her fellow nominees, including her City teammates Yui Hasegawa and Lauren Hemp, and Chelsea's Erin Cuthbert, Lauren James, and Niamh Charles.
