Sergio Conceicao to Leave AC Milan After Disappointing Season, Joao Felix Returns to Chelsea

Sergio Conceicao’s tenure as AC Milan's head coach will come to an end at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. This decision was confirmed shortly after Milan’s painful defeat in the Coppa Italia final against Bologna. The 1-0 loss at the Olimpico stadium highlighted the struggles that have defined Milan’s season, with the team languishing in eighth place in Serie A and eliminated from the Champions League by Feyenoord earlier in the year. Despite an improvement in form towards the end of the season, the final loss sealed Conceicao's departure.

Conceicao’s time at Milan was marked by a short-term contract, with the club hiring him to finish the season after the sacking of his predecessor, Paulo Fonseca. While he was able to secure some positive results, including a strong late run, the overall performance and disappointing results, including the Coppa Italia final loss, led the club to seek a new direction. Milan’s board has already begun looking for a new coach, with names like Maurizio Sarri and Massimiliano Allegri emerging as potential candidates.

In addition to the managerial change, AC Milan will also see Joao Felix return to Chelsea after his loan spell ends. The Portuguese forward failed to make a significant impact, as seen in his ineffective performance during the Coppa Italia final. Felix’s departure, along with the season’s poor results, underscores the many challenges Milan faces, and the club is now tasked with rebuilding for the next season.
