Uston Nawawi Takes Charge of Persebaya for the Final Two Liga 1 Matches

Persebaya Surabaya has entrusted Uston Nawawi with leading the team for the final two matches of the Liga 1 2024-25 season, following head coach Paul Munster’s red card suspension. The decision comes after Munster’s ejection in the match against Semen Padang, which could lead to further disciplinary action. As a result, Nawawi will guide the team in their upcoming matches against Borneo FC and Bali United, aiming to finish the season strong.
This isn't Nawawi’s first time stepping into a leadership role for Persebaya; he previously took charge when Munster was sidelined due to yellow card accumulation. Under Nawawi’s temporary leadership, the team secured two important victories: a 3-2 win over Arema FC and a 1-0 triumph against PSBS Biak. With Persebaya's focus on securing maximum points in the final matches, Nawawi’s previous success in these short stints has added confidence to the management’s decision.
The team’s primary goal for the remaining fixtures is to improve their league standing and potentially secure a spot in continental competitions. With the squad in good health and high motivation, Nawawi faces a crucial challenge in ensuring Persebaya’s competitive performance in these final games. Should he succeed, it could open up opportunities for him to take on a permanent role with the club.
