Emil Audero Impresses at Palermo, Club Seeks to Extend His Stay

Emil Audero, the Indonesian national team goalkeeper, has drawn attention for his strong performances with Palermo in the 2024/2025 Serie B season. Since joining the club on loan from Como in February, the 28-year-old has made 15 appearances, recording three clean sheets and conceding an average of 1.4 goals per game. His consistency has sparked interest within Palermo’s management to keep him in the squad for the upcoming season.
According to reports from Italy, Palermo’s sporting director, Carlo Osti, is currently exploring ways to retain Audero beyond his loan spell. However, the challenge lies in the financial demands, as Audero remains under contract with Como until 2028 following his €5 million transfer from Sampdoria. Palermo is unlikely to match a similar transfer fee and is therefore considering extending the loan arrangement as a more realistic option.
Como is expected to be open to another loan deal given their crowded goalkeeping lineup for next season, which includes Jean Butez, Mauro Vigorito, and Pierre Bolchini. Bringing Audero back would increase the number of goalkeepers to four, making his stay at Como impractical. Palermo hopes this situation will work in their favor as they aim to retain the experienced keeper while helping Como recoup some of their investment through strategic loan terms.
