Thom Haye Parts Ways with Almere City Following Club’s Relegation

Thom Haye has officially ended his stint with Almere City after the club’s relegation from the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football. The club announced the departure of Haye along with several other players and staff during a farewell lunch event. Haye’s contract, which expires at the end of June, was not renewed as part of Almere City’s restructuring following their drop to a lower division.
Haye joined Almere City just last season after leaving Heerenveen, making his stay at the club only one year. During the season, he appeared in 30 matches across all competitions and contributed two assists. Despite his efforts on the field, Almere City struggled overall, leading to their relegation and upcoming participation in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football.
The decision to part ways was part of a wider change as several teammates, including other key players, were also released. The club publicly thanked those departing for their contributions and wished them success in their future endeavors. For Haye, this marks the end of a challenging chapter at Almere.
Looking forward, Haye will be searching for new opportunities to continue his career after a tough season. The club’s relegation and squad overhaul have prompted a fresh start for many, including the Indonesian naturalized player, who must now find a new team to pursue his professional ambitions.
