Venezia Relegated After 3–2 Defeat to Juventus Without Jay Idzes on the Pitch
Venezia concluded their 2024-25 Serie A campaign with a disappointing home loss against Juventus, a result that sealed their relegation to Serie B. In a must-win match at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium, the team was without their key defender and Indonesian national team captain, Jay Idzes, due to suspension. His absence was a blow as the team looked to secure survival in the top flight.
The match started promisingly for Venezia with an early goal from Daniel Fila in the opening minutes. However, Juventus responded quickly and turned the game around before halftime with goals from Kenan Yildiz and Randal Kolo Muani. Despite an equalizer from Ridgeciano Haps early in the second half, Venezia's hopes were crushed when a penalty converted by Manuel Locatelli put the visitors back in front.
Venezia fought hard but failed to find another equalizer, ultimately falling 2–3. The loss meant they finished the season in 19th place with just 29 points from 38 matches. This outcome confirmed their relegation alongside Monza and Empoli, ending their brief stint in the Italian top division.
Jay Idzes, who had been a defensive mainstay throughout the season, missed the crucial match due to an accumulation of yellow cards. He had received his fifth booking in the previous match against Cagliari, adding to earlier cautions from games against Bologna, Napoli, Cagliari (earlier round), and Roma. Forced to watch from the stands, Idzes was unable to help his side avoid the drop on the final day.
