Venezia Faces Relegation Fallout: Captain Jay Idzes Likely to Be Sold

Following their relegation from Serie A, Venezia is preparing for a major squad overhaul ahead of the 2025-26 season in Serie B. The club, known as I Lagunari, lasted just one season in Italy’s top flight and now must adjust to the financial and competitive realities of the second division. Prioritizing a rebuild centered on younger, more affordable players, Venezia is expected to offload some of their key performers from the past campaign.
One of the biggest names likely to be sold is Jay Idzes, Venezia’s captain and an important figure for the Indonesian national team. Despite the club’s struggles, Idzes stood out as a defensive leader during the second half of the season, helping the team keep a tight defense and securing vital points in their fight to avoid relegation. However, financial constraints make it difficult for Venezia to retain players of his caliber, and with a market value estimated at five million euros, Idzes is seen as a valuable asset to sell.
Other notable players expected to be placed on the transfer list include Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, the team’s most valuable player with a market price of eight million euros, who contributed goals and assists throughout the season. Midfielders Gaetano Oristanio and Gianluca Busio, both valued at around six and a half million euros, are also likely candidates to leave as the club restructures.
In contrast, Venezia plans to keep goalkeeper Filip Stankovic, currently on loan from Inter Milan. Despite a recent injury, Stankovic impressed during his time on the pitch and is considered a key part of the club’s future in Serie B. Venezia aims to make his stay permanent as they look to build a squad capable of competing for promotion next season.
