AC Milan Turns to Allegri as Italiano Nears Bologna Extension

AC Milan’s pursuit of Vincenzo Italiano appears to be coming to an end, as the Italian coach is reportedly close to signing a contract extension with Bologna. After a third round of talks with Bologna’s management, both parties have reached a preliminary agreement for a new deal running until June 2027, with an option for an additional year and a salary exceeding €3 million annually. This development significantly reduces the chances of Italiano moving to the San Siro.
With Italiano likely staying at Bologna, AC Milan is shifting its focus to other candidates to replace Sergio Conceição. Among the names now under serious consideration is Massimiliano Allegri, a familiar figure in Milan’s history. The club is reportedly ready to offer him a two-year contract worth €6 million per season, totaling approximately Rp105 billion. Allegri has become a top priority, especially after the club received a negative signal from Italiano.
Negotiations with Allegri are said to have intensified, although Milan is not the only club in pursuit. Napoli is also closely monitoring Allegri's status, potentially as a replacement for Antonio Conte if he returns to Juventus. The outcome of Allegri’s situation could be determined by the end of May, as he prefers not to let speculation drag on and is waiting for a final decision from Napoli before accepting Milan’s offer.
Meanwhile, other coaching prospects are being evaluated across Italy. Inter Milan is reportedly eyeing Italiano as well, should Simone Inzaghi depart after the Champions League final. In addition to Italiano and Allegri, Cesc Fabregas, who recently led Como to Serie A promotion, has emerged as a potential option for the Nerazzurri. As the managerial carousel continues to spin, Milan appears determined to secure Allegri before other clubs make their move.
