Indonesia U-23 Gears Up for SEA Games with International Friendlies Against Mali

The Indonesia U-23 national team is set to face Mali in two international friendly matches in mid-November 2025. These games are part of the team’s preparation for the upcoming SEA Games, a key regional tournament scheduled from December 3 to 18, 2025. The coaching staff, led by Indra Sjafri, is focused on refining both the squad composition and tactical strategies to ensure the team performs cohesively and competitively during the event.

Ahead of the Mali fixtures, Indonesia U-23 played two international friendlies against India in October 2025, resulting in a 1-2 loss in the first match and a 1-1 draw in the second. These encounters provided valuable experience for the players, highlighting areas for improvement and giving the coaching team insights into optimal lineups and game plans. The upcoming matches against Mali are expected to further strengthen team coordination and readiness.

The friendlies are scheduled to take place at Stadion Pakansari in Bogor, with the first match on November 15 and the second on November 18, both kicking off at 20:00 WIB. Mali is expected to arrive in Indonesia on November 13, allowing both teams sufficient time for preparation and acclimatization. These matches also serve as part of FIFA Matchday allocations for the U-23 squad, offering young players crucial international exposure while the senior team searches for a new head coach.

Officials from the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) have indicated that ticketing information for the friendlies will be announced soon. The U-23 squad aims to use these matches to build team cohesion, sharpen skills, and gain momentum ahead of the SEA Games, ensuring that Garuda Muda enters the tournament as a well-prepared and competitive squad.
