Persib Midfielder Luciano Guaycochea Faces PSSI Suspension, Team Prepares Alternatives

Persib Bandung midfielder Luciano Guaycochea has been handed an additional suspension by PSSI’s Disciplinary Committee following a foul on Persis Solo’s Kodai Tanaka. The incident, reviewed through VAR, led to a direct red card during the Super League 2025-26 match on October 27, which Persib won 2-0 at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api. The committee ruled that Guaycochea’s challenge was excessive, resulting in both a playing ban and a fine.
The suspension will sideline Guaycochea for Persib’s next two league matches against Malut United and Dewa United, alongside a fine of Rp 10 million. The disciplinary action reflects the league’s strict approach to maintaining fair play, ensuring players adhere to professional conduct on the field.
Persib management expressed respect for the committee’s decision, acknowledging the challenge of missing a key midfielder. The coaching staff, led by Bojan Hodak, plans to adjust the lineup using other central midfielders such as Adam Alis, Thom Haye, Wiliam Marcilio, and Beckham Putra to maintain team performance. The club sees this as an opportunity to test squad depth and resilience.
Despite the absence of Guaycochea, Persib emphasizes professionalism and team unity, treating the suspension as a chance to evaluate strategies and strengthen character. The club aims to keep performance consistent, with prepared alternatives ensuring that tactical objectives remain on track during the upcoming matches.
