PSSI Conducts European Tour to Interview Five Candidates for Indonesia’s New National Team Coach
PSSI has entered a decisive stage in selecting the next head coach for Indonesia’s national football team, carrying out a series of interviews across several European countries. Five coaches are on the shortlist, and the federation’s leadership has begun offering small hints about their backgrounds. One of the candidates is known to be from the Netherlands, adding to the speculation surrounding the ongoing selection process.

The information surfaced during a visit by the federation’s vice chairman to a training session of the U-22 squad in Jakarta. He explained that senior officials were dispatched to Europe to oversee the interviews, emphasizing the need to maintain the candidates’ privacy until the process is complete. Technical Director Alexander Zwiers was the first to travel, followed by two members of the executive committee.

Additional leadership figures, including the head of the National Team Agency, are scheduled to join the team in Europe in the following days. They plan to meet in several predetermined locations aligned with the interview agenda. The delegation has prepared an extensive list of discussion points to evaluate the candidates’ commitment and long-term plans for Indonesian football.

The interview sessions are set to take place in multiple countries, including Spain and the United Kingdom. Officials remain careful not to confirm or deny any specific rumors, choosing instead to focus on completing the selection process with discretion. The federation expects that the meetings conducted during this period will provide the clarity needed to finalize the appointment of the new national team coach.
